Arm Holdings Set to Introduce AI Chips in 2025, According to Nikkei

UK-based Arm Holdings, a subsidiary of SoftBank Group, is setting sights on the development and production of artificial intelligence (AI) chips, targeting the launch of its first products in 2025, according to Nikkei Asia. Arm will invest heavily in setting up an AI chip division to build a prototype by spring 2025, with mass production expected to begin in autumn the same year. If successful, the AI chip business could potentially be spun off and placed under SoftBank. The move aligns with Arm’s increasingly expansive approach into the data center market, offering alternatives to operators seeking self-reliance from dominant suppliers like Nvidia.
